Jodi Cook

Jodi is a community advocate and retired professional whose interest in history and historic preservation has shaped a lifelong appreciation for the places that tell our stories, from the landmark boulevards and neighborhoods to the World UNESCO sites she continues to explore today.

Jodi earned a BS in Urban Planning from Michigan State University, which led to her first position as a city planner in Kansas City, Missouri— a city renowned for its historic boulevards, parks, and architectural legacy. A move to the Pacific Northwest brought opportunities to serve at Senior Services of Snohomish County and in emergency housing coordination, after which she spent 30 years working at Xerox before retiring. Much of her spare time has been spent visiting World UNESCO sites across the globe, experiencing firsthand the remarkable legacies built by both nature and human imagination. A Tacoma resident for 30 years, Jodi has served on the North End Neighborhood Council board and is a passionate advocate for addressing Tacoma's lacking urban tree canopy. She brings to Historic Tacoma a deep belief that preserving our architectural and cultural heritage strengthens the community we all call home.
